HOTEL G

Rating: Medium

Hotel G is the best value hotel of a three star standard in Yangon. Think The Loft in style, but with a price similar to Best Western Chinatown.

Price aside, the next major draw is the property’s location. Situated on the corner where Yaw Min Gyi St meets Alan Pya Pagoda St, you’re literally across the road from the Central Railway station, five-minutes on foot from Sule Pagoda and a stone’s throw away from great independent restaurants such as Mingalar Shan Noodle, Sprouts, Golden Pho and Nourish. Next door to the Thamada Cinema, the corner is also a very popular local hangout, which means you’ll get the sense that you’re in the heart of things but with the cushioning of some modern creature comforts.

The 85 rooms have been divided into four categories; Good (15sqm), Great (20sqm), Greater (22sqm) and Greatest (30sqm). Granted they are only small, but they’re perfectly liveable thanks to excellent ergonomics; you’ll even find dedicated luggage space underneath the beds, a first for Yangon we do believe!

Each room has a unique view, varying from Yaw Min Gyi’s rusty colonial rooftops to Yangon Central Railway Station. The interior design is modern, colourful and trendy in-style, with locally inspired artwork and quality furnishings used throughout. Metis branded toiletries also help to provide a little sense of luxury.

Occupying Hotel G’s ground floor is Babbett, a popular eatery offering imported cold cuts and cheese, premium wines and daily specials cooked with quality ingredients. You’ll also find a cozy communal space, perfect for mingling and enjoying live entertainment in the evenings.

If you’re keen to work off some calories, the Real Fitness gym’s stocked with an impressive range of equipment ranging from punch bags to treadmills.

Facilities:

  • A Real Fitness Gym (one of Myanmar’s best fitness centre brands)
  • Restaurant (Babbett, one of Yangon’s most popular and trendy eateries)
