ITINERARY IN DETAIL

(Click to read)

End the day in style with a private cruise along the banks of the Irrawaddy River.

Travelling the length of Bagan with a beverage in hand, this leisurely experience will take you away from the crowds and provide an authentically local taste of life ‘behind the temples’.

As the boat ventures out towards the middle of the river, the spires and umbrellas of ancient stupas start to become visible. Opposite, it won’t be long until the sun starts to slowly set behind the low-lying mountains on the west bank, ushering in a palette of red, yellow and orange hues. As this happens the sleeping monuments briefly come to life, with their multi-coloured facades being softly accentuated by the remaining rays of light.

Wanting to return home before darkness sets in, this is also the best time to cross paths with the farmers, fisherman and market sellers, many of whom use the river as their main form of commute. For centuries it has served as the central region’s lifeline, and there is no denying it plays just as important a role to this very day. With the boat’s engine temporarily muted, there will be plenty of time to appreciate this and take photographs of the passing scenery.

Following in the water trails of the river commuters, return to the jetty and transfer back to your hotel (or a place of your choosing) by car.
