Located along Yaw Min Gyi Street, approximately 1km away from the Park Royal Hotel, the recently opened Sprouts has quickly positioned itself as one of the healthiest dining options in town.

Assuming that you will be walking from the Park Royal, you will find the entrance to Sprouts tucked away on the right hand side in the entrance of a scruffy looking apartment block. To escape the midday heat, you will probably want to walk in the shade on the left hand-side however.

Welcome to Sprouts Yangon

Don’t be put off by the low-key entrance

Don’t let the scruffy looking surroundings put you off, once inside, the restaurant is characterfully decorated with artificial vines, small wooden tables and a chalkboard showing off the cafe’s menu items.

The sprouts menu offers an impressive range of freshly prepared salads and toasted sandwiches, making it the perfect option for those looking to eat something light and healthy mid-tour. It also boasts an excellent location as it’s close to downtown and the popular Bogyoke Market. If the set salad menu doesn’t impress, how about creating your own? All of the ingredients are on display in an open-front chiller making it easy to point to what you want and you can even add chicken or tuna.

Tour Mandalay opted for the not so original, yet tasty Greek Salad followed by a cheddar cheese, chicken and guacamole toasted sandwich.

Both were extremely tasty and the price wasn’t too bad either at 5000 kyat ($5). Whilst we didn’t get around to tasting it on this occasion, there was a mighty looking guacamole salad with chicken priced at 6000 kyat ($6), which looked like a good option for anyone with a serious appetite.

To wash it down, Tour Mandalay ordered a lime and mint cooler, which took a while to prepare but it was worth the wait. At 2000 kyat ($2), this was also reasonably priced, especially seeing as it was made from 100% natural ingredients.

Whilst Yangon boasts an impressive amount of restaurants, there are very few that perfectly cater to the healthy eaters, or those looking for something quick and light. Tour Mandalay are pleased to say that Sprouts ticks all of those boxes and due to its central location, it is a great lunch option for anyone looking to grab a bite mid-tour.

Sprouts operates on a first-come first-served basis. If you are planning to eat there for lunch, be sure to arrive early as it starts to get busy from approximately 1pm onwards.
