La Maison Birmane is a beautifully designed boutique property, which can be found tucked away down one of Nyaung Shwe’s quieter streets. Although small, the French owner has clearly put lots of thought into ergonomics and a stay here feels remarkably private – perhaps the abundance of beautifully manicured tropical garden has something to do with this?

Each of the property’s ten compact rooms are similar in style but with slightly different layouts. The use of dark wood throughout gives rooms a Balinese feel and all come with large, private outdoor sitting areas. You will not find a TV, safe or minibar, but each room does have a mosquito net, back-up electricity generator and 80-litre hot water tank. At the time of inspection, La Maison Birmane did not have air conditioning units installed but an electric fan can be provided if required.

It is also important to note that the property does not accept children under 10 years old.
