With 20 stilted private bungalows spread out across a small private lake, guests lucky enough to stay at View Point Lodge will gain access to an oasis of calm, which may sounds surprising considering the property’s bustling location. This is partly thanks to the double-glazed windows (a rarity in Myanmar) and the abundance of green that surrounds the lake. Each of the rooms also boast a private balcony, which provides a pleasant environment in which to read, or enjoy a freshly prepared cocktail in the evening.

A short walk will see you explore some of Nyaung Shwe’s colourful shop fronts and tasty local restaurants. Then again, why eat anywhere else when the View Point’s own restaurant serves up some of the best quality Shan cuisine the country has to offer? In fact, owned by the same people that manage Le Planteur, it is worth making a reservation here even if you are not staying at View Point.

For those in search of good food, a sense of character and exclusivity in Nyaung Shwe, View Point Lodge is one of the best options in town.
